Sean Patterson

Design tool constrained thinking. Digitization’s impact on creative engineering.

 /
Conversation Date: 09/01/2021

Sean will talk with us about how electronic circuit designers are constrained by the design tools they use and today’s manufacturing techniques. For example, mechanical engineers have always designed in a 3D space, so the evolution of 3D printing for mechanical designs didn’t require a revolution of design, rather an evolution. His work with transformational technology will change how chips are designed.

President of Americas, Nano Dimension

Sean Patterson joined Nano Dimensions in June 2021 as the President of Americas. He was most recently an executive at Amazon, where he held leadership roles in their transportation and healthcare groups. He has scaled operations, programs, and engineering groups from pilots to hundreds of facilities and thousands of employees and assets. Before this, he was an executive at TTM Technologies, where he led manufacturing operations, leading multiple aerospace and defense manufacturing plants, and integration of acquisitions and restructuring.

While there, he oversaw the expansion of TTM Technologies’ PCB assembly plants and vertical growth in the supply chain. While at TTM, he was a first adopter of Nano Dimension's equipment as he pushed to revolutionize legacy manufacturing processes. He served as a US Navy Submarine Officer following his time at the United States Naval Academy with a BS in Systems Engineering, complemented by an MS in Nuclear Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is married and has two boys.
