Doug Katsev, MD, earned his chemistry degree from St. Louis University, attended Emory School of Medicine, and completed his ophthalmology residency in St. Louis. He completed a corneal/refractive fellowship at UCLA's Stein Eye Institute. From 1990 to 2020, Dr. Katsev led ophthalmology at Sansum Clinic in Santa Barbara, performing over 35,000 cataract and refractive surgeries. In 2020, he opened his own private practice, Santa Barbara Eyecare, where he remains the region's leading cataract and refractive surgeon.
A respected expert in his field, Dr. Katsev conducts clinical research on intraocular lenses and refractive products. He lectures regularly at major conferences and consults for Bausch + Lomb, Alcon, and J&J. He has served on the editorial board of Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today and held positions with the American College of Eye Surgeons and Santa Barbara Surgery Center. Dr. Katsev continues to advance ophthalmology and delivers numerous talks each year.
