TEDxSantaBarbara Impact


It is our Mission to bring ideas to the Red Circle that will have an impact on the Santa Barbara community. Our hope is that those ideas, delivered from amazing speakers, will go on to make a difference in the world at large. Beyond Ideas Worth Spreading, we call this Ideas Worth Sharing.

Rachel

In 2017 Rachel told us about how organization, The Five Gyres Institute was the first to research plastic pollution in the ocean. The institute’s identification of the problem of plastic microbeads led to a federal ban. Her overarching goal: To stop the flow of plastic from source to sea by 2028.

Jackson

Jackson thrilled us all with his melodies while bringing global attention to a relatively unknown disease, HS (Hidradenitis Suppurativa). With his talk online, thousands of sufferers have come together to share their own stories and support one another

Chloe

Chloe’s talk in 2016 went on to become an international movement called Stand Beautiful. Chloe spent last summer speaking at 50 locations around the world about the challenges of finding your inner beauty. She was 16 when she gave her talk and is now headed to Westmont College.

Traver

Since Traver’s 2016 talk, he has founded Man Uncivilized, inspiring millions of men to shift their experience of masculinity. His TED Talk about redefining your relationship with fear has attracted an extensive following.

Our 2018 Theme

“Yes and…” is a guiding principle of Improv that promotes inclusion. The Yes explains the situation, while the And allows the listener to add their own experience to the talk, and take action.
